The GFZ German Research Centre for Geosciences is the national research centre for Earth sciences. Research at the GFZ focuses on the geosphere within the highly complex System Earth. The Scientific Advisory Council of the GFZ advises the Board of Trustees and the Executive Board on all areas of research and development. The consultation explicitly includes the strategy and planning of the research and development work at the GFZ, outreach activities, collaboration with national and international institutions as well as appointment matters.
