ESP's Christian Tegner invited to CASE 19 Expedition

Christian Tegner has been invited to take part in an expedition where he will work on the High Arctic large igneous province (lavas, dykes, and large gabbro-granite intrusions) in the Pearya Terrane of northern Ellesmere Island. This is an exciting trip for Christian and the ESP team as the rocks he will study may represent the onshore extension of the geophysical anomaly identifying the Alpha Ridge. It can therefore be expected to provide indirect insight to the origin of the Alpha Ridge and the High Arctic large igneous province.

Christian was invited by Dr. Karsten Piepjohn (expedition leader) and Bundesanstalt für Geowissenschaften und Rohstoffe (BGR) in Hannover [Federal Institute for Geosciences and Natural Resources].

Christian will be in the High Arctic in late July and early August. Remember to visit us again for updates and photos of Christian's fieldwork!
