The instrument is manufactured by Elementar (model: Vario Max CNS) and is able to determine total nitrogen (Dumas method), total carbon as well as sulphur in soil, sediments or other solid materials.
Ceramic crucibles are used when weighing the sample. Material amount is up to 5 g (or 2.5 g soil). Combustion temperature is 1150 degrees of Celcius using oxygen. Helium is used as a carrier gas.
Autosampler is available with room for 60 crucibles. The instrument is computer-controlled using Windows operating system. Option for exporting data to Excel or other formats.
