Keynote talk by Chris Boshuizen:
Chris an operating partner at Data Collective VC, an early-stage investment firm that has funded several new space companies. Chris was the co-founder and previous CTO of Planet, a company providing daily, global mapping of our changing planet by the use of a suite of CubeSats.
Today he has dedicated his life to the development of partnerships and alliances that accelerate the development of the space frontier. You can find a TED talk, where Chris present some of his ideas here: https://youtu.be/wp2sHc_PKjc
Match Making
The aim with the match making session is to facilitate collaboration between students and researchers at the universities and people from the industry. We therefore want the match making session to have an open and relaxed atmosphere where everybody is encouraged to talk about what they burn for.
When signing up for the workshop people selected one of the following subjects:
i. Micro satellites
ii. Large Satellites
iii. Earth observations
iv. Big data
Based on these choices we will appoint everybody into groups 6 people. These people will be asked to come up with a design of an innovative future newspace mission. This could be anything from a micro satellite, innovative use of existing satellites or new ways to employ Earth observations services. The groups will be asked to start preparing a poster of their idea. There will be foam boards and markers available.
After 30 minutes 3 of the 6 members in the groups will be asked to rotate to the next group. Hereafter the preparation of the posters will continue with the new input from the new group members.
During the following coffee break it will be possible to view the posters and discuss the ideas.
Again, the aim of the match making session is not to produce nice posters or final ideas, but to facilitate collaboration between students and researchers at the universities and people from the industry.
