My research advances fundamental and applied soil physics by elucidating the processes that govern soil-water interactions and soil functional resilience. I investigate (i) the mechanisms of water vapor sorption in soils and the potential of hygroscopic water content as a predictive indicator of key soil properties; (ii) the capacity of soil amendments such as biochar, glacial rock flour, compost, and manure to enhance soil fertility and crop productivity across temperate and tropical agroecosystems; (iii) the biophysical and environmental drivers that regulate the recovery of soils from compaction; and (iv) the evaluation of soil health using integrated approaches that combine conventional measurements with emerging digital and sensor-based technologies
