Department of Geoscience has a number of permanent laboratory technicians which together cover the most geological fields.

The laboratory is included as a feature for teaching of the department's students at Bachelor, Master and PhD level.

The majority of the analyses performed are priced based on fixed price models. In addition to standard analyses, also special analyses are carried out according to agreement, as well as tasks in connection with field work.

The department has access to field equipment, several cold rooms (the largest is a 20-square meter cold facility with temperature held at 2 degrees of Celcius) and modern dish washing room with the possibility of acid rinsing. Everything is built in the period 2007-2012 and with metal free clean rooms (class 100, ISO class 5) built 2016. The laboratory is updated on a regular basis with new equipment, among these a Hawk instrument for pyrolysis and oxidation (2018) and GC (2019).

As a PhD student you can be employed as instructor during laboratory teaching and field work. The department also makes use of laboratory assistants (normally geology students) who solve varying tasks in the laboratories and the department in general. For example laboratory work like crushing, sawing, etc., washing glassware and other odd jobs.

Laboratories without a laboratory technician can be found in other facilities.
