Centre for Past Climate Studies

Centre for Past Climate Studies

Presentation

The Centre for Past Climate Studies at the Department of Earth Sciences, Aarhus University, was founded in 2009 with the purpose of performing interdisciplinary research in the climate system, its dynamics and causes for climate change with special focus on the ocean-atmosphere interaction.
The main focus is on using past conditions as a tool for understanding the climate system, using geological and instrumental records as well as climate and ice modelling.
The central expertise of the centre is climate reconstruction using marine, terrestrial and lake records as well as ice-sheet dynamics and ice-sheet modelling especially related to the sediment-ice interface.

The centre is  located at the Department of Earth Sciences, which was recently evaluated to be one of the top departments at the Faculty of Science and has a strong tradition in research, research training and teaching as well as in collaboration with industry.
